Blood Privilege @ Richmond Shepard Theatre

Modestly staged, but very well acted, the play addresses the nature of power and the consequence of its abuse (if only some of the culprits of the recent economic crisis would end like Elizabeth Bathory!).

The cast is young and talented. The actress playing Elisabeth is managing well the tall order of portrying a very complex character. The actors playing the King and the Count give solid performance. The King is masterfully serious, cruel and farcical all at once. The Count, much like Elisabeth goes through a transformation from her guardian and lover, to her judge, and the actor portraing him is well chosen for the role and does a great job navigating that transformation.

All is all, I enjoyed the play and would recommend it.
