New name, same old tricks! This used to be Apicius Ristorante in Lantana. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, that is why I recommended it to my group of friends. It was our first time there. The chef Leopold greeted us , chatted up our group, and seemed friendly. He told us how he would "take good care of us and make us some special dishes, like fresh catch shrimp..." When the bill arrived at the end of the evening, we were all shocked! The only thing he took care of was all of our wallets! He made us 2 plates of grill shrimp, each had 4 large shrimp on the plate along with some other appetizers like pasta dishes but he failed to let us know that EACH SHRIMP COST $20 a piece!!! We spent $160 on 8 shrimp, our bill was over $500 for 4 appetizers! We don't mind paying for a good meal but people don't like being price gauged by some greedy restaurant owner who can't be apparent & upfront about his pricing. If you are offering a quality product, you should not hide behind a fake facade.
This restaurant is clearly under appreciated in the area, and is well worth a visit, particularly compared to other choices around. The service was relaxed, but good. Carefully watched over by several staff, and our glasses were never empty, and our requests were often anticipated. We found that the food was excellent. It was well presented true Italian food. If you are interested in presentations that highlight the ingredients, then this is for you. The wine list is broad enough to allow for some good choices.
