Pride 'n Joy in my view does not live up to its name or purported reputation as a serious foodies BBQ establishment. Rather, after many visits, its been a huge disappointment. The manager is poorly trained and seems to be ill-equipped to properly handle negative comments to his face...about the food. We walked out after eating $100.00 of food for two. Each only had one beer and ordered many items. The waitress was mortified and apologized many times for the horrible experiences.
The ribs have no flavor and waaay too much sodium. Cornbread is a cardboard tasting horror. Burnt ends are very good but again, salt overdose. French fries are too greasy and limp. Don't order the desserts. They're sad, bad and not work it.
All in all, this has not been a pleasure to go and get well prepared cook. Funny thing is, the wait staff were nice, welcomed us back from the previous horrible experience and crowed about the new chef. Myron, if your reading this...get yourself back to Miami and take over as...it could be too late. Your manager needs good people skills, your chef needs to learn your process and above all...change the menu. For those prices, people expect better!
Major disappointment. Not only is the food expensive ($30 a person on average), but it is laden with sodium and inconsistently prepared at best. The large a la carte menu is filled with hidden duds. Management must be sick of its own inability to pull off such a daunting task as to serve what's on the menu (one time I arrived and they were out of BBQ sauce, imagine that!) that they're more interested in insulting customers who complain and trying to hide negative comments from discovery, than to actually serve their customer base.
Take a pass if you're looking for great food and a foodie experience. This is hype at its finest, with back of the hand to those who don't swallow the dream.
I love this place! If you have ever had real southern BBQ, you know that this place is the real deal. The burnt ends, pulled pork, and ribs are amazing. I also recently tried the Philly Cheese steak (which is not as traditional) and it blew my mind.
The service is at times a bit slow, but they're so nice that it (sometimes) makes up for it. I also have never had a problem with any of the managers, but then again, I'm also always respectful and not a jerk...
All and all, I've had a great experience every time. Recommended.
