So horribly DISAPPOINTED to be writing a bad review for this place, but there's NO EXCUSE for what happened to us. We had reservations (Open Table) for Valentine's Day (2013) and were looking forward to the special menu with filet mignon and lobster for $45.
We arrived on time, got a drink from the bar, were seated after 5 minutes or so. Once seated, we sat there FOR NEARLY 25 MINUTES without any wait staff coming to the table. When you're going to pay over $100 for a meal, you expect the service to be slightly better than Denny's. For that price, I certainly don't think I should have to flag down staff to take my order. Our drinks from the bar were long-empty.
We watched as people who were seated AFTER US had their orders taken. We still have no idea who the server for our table was. Literally, in 25 minutes NO ONE identified themselves as our server. We left the menus and empty glasses on the table and got up. The same guy who greeted us when we entered smiled and said, "Have a nice night" on our way out. They had NO IDEA that no one ever served us!!!!!!! Either they are AMAZINGLY INCOMPETENT or there were major issues distracting them.
We went to Kamakura Sushi across the street - looking at the clock - and we ordered and had food in front of us within 10 MINUTES of leaving Villa d'Este!!! Not the dinner we had planned, but I'm diabetic and needed to eat. I can only imagine how long getting the food would have taken if we had stayed.
I'm soooo disappointed. What a horrible experience.
