yes, i totally spaced on g.g.allen. he should be on the list. as should the meatmen. except both tesco vee and allen are more gross than scary.
I saw the Offenders probably 20 times. THey were always the opening band for great bands like Husker Du, etc. Second tier, copy cat hardcore.
the CIrcle Jerks always struck me as second tier hardcore. Adolescents were great. They would be #11.
The self-titled release was good, but it was way underproduced. I Against I was a masterpiece. It is the only Bad Brains album that had any production whatsoever. But in a top 30 list, there may be three bad brains albums.
I am unsure if Poison 13 qualifies as a punk band. Like Scratch Acid, there was more going on than punk. And the members of both bands would probably agree.
I can attest that Nick is neither a hipster or a douche or any combination there of.
well, in 86, a lot of writers were awarding "punk" awards to non punk bands because they (the writers) couldn't get their heads around real punk. I like Joe King, but he aint no punk.
Nancy, can't include new wave and rockabilly on a list of ten. Good bands that you mentioned, but not punk.
love Toxic Shock NCM, but the Offenders were a wind up, hardcore wannabe punk band. They opened every show I ever saw by The Replacements and Husker Du and everytime, I came away bored.
sorry Nancy, I like Brave Combo, but they don't belong anywhere near this list and I am sure they would agree.
