The Pancakes & Booze Art Show @ The Artists Alley Fine Art Gallery

It was a terrible experience. I talked a good friend into going, we were the first in line. I read about the event in 3 different printed publications and it said the event was $5, cash bar etc and free pancakes. We get there and they tell us it's $10 because of the "zombie fashion show" I explained that I read about it in 3 different publications which were the SF Examiner, SF Weekly and the Bay Guardian - all stated is was five bucks to get in. The guy at the entrance started telling me I couldn't believe what I read that they just print what they want which is so completely not true - the promoters had to have provided the info to get it listed in things to do sections in these newspapers. Finally the guy sitting at the computer piped in and said that yes he'd seen them and to hit him up after he'd had a few sangria's. Frankly in any other professional setting management would've just honored the $5. For this type of amateur event, $10 is just an outrageous fee. The art - 95% looked to be right out of art school which is fine if the price is appropriate. I went to support emerging and new artists. I fully support that as much as I can. To add insult to injury a half-poured glass of prosecco was EIGHT BUCKS - nine with a tip and to top it all off - the free pancakes? There was a prominently displayed tip jar which was COMPLETELY inappropriate! Honestly we did not tip because what should've been a cheap event was about making money clearly - not the new and emerging artists to be exposed to the public. Then while waiting in line for the pancakes who shows up behind the bar? The guy who said he's do something to make it up to us. I was literally five feet in front of him, there was no way he did not see me and he intentionally avoided eye contact. I go to tons of events in this city and have never been treated like this or been to a more poorly run/managed event. We went to go have a drink at somewhere FUN and reasonably priced afterwards....this was a total ripoff and amateur all of the way around.

Oh "zombie fashion show" (the make up looked awesome) - was a no show before we finally left - they were busy putting on the make up....seems no one got there before the 8pm opening time........total bummer.
