I love this place, I've been coming here now for over four yrs and about twice a month. Also since I've been coming here my standards too has risen for Chinese food. I have turned about four friends onto Fu Fu Cafe and they ended up coming on their own. Please try Fu Fu Cafe trust me you had worst, their "Hot Spicy Chicken" & "Chinese Broccoli & Beef w/Crispy Flat Noodle" the to die for. We're wasting your time and experience ordering "Sweet & Sour Chicken", please try real Chinese food! Fu Fu Cafe is always packed and not over priced too. Bon Appetit has written about it, of one of the restaurants to eat in Houston. Of all the restaurants in the strip Fu Fu's at it's the "only" one full and people waiting outside the door to eat.
This has to be the most over-rated restaurant I've ever tried. I ordered three dishes "Sambal Chicken, Thai Sauce Shrimp & Pineapple Chicken", and all of them were "BLAND"!!! The chicken was unseasoned and the cuts were as big as a thumb-nail, to make it look as if there was more protein on the plate then it really is. The sauce was tasteless and full of cornstarch, the "Sambal" sauce looked like melted candle wax was on my plate. Of all three plates the only idem had the most flavor was the "pineapple". This is a very sad, sad restaurant and can't believe it's packed and a waiting list this restaurant has on the weekends. I did enjoy their pancake but really? I didn't go to an Malaysian restaurant to eat their pancake. And to add insult to injury, I got "DIARRHEA" the day after and still dealing with it (1.27.13), thought the chicken tasted off. I did think of all the dishes "Banana Leaf" has, is it possible I ordered the worst dishes they have. If so then, they should "label" them as "bland". I am shocked and very disappointed with my experience at "Banana Leaf", I want to love all the food I visit to all the restaurants I eat in. Since I'm paying I want the restaurant to give me great food, but in this case I got bland, flavorless, and "DIARRHEA".
I've been eating here since summer of 1987, and never stopped. The burgers here are juicy and good, everything you want from a burger place. I've taken all my family members, friends, and co-workers here and they "ALL" come here. For all those new burger joints popping up in you're area charging 6 bucks for a burger, Sam's Deli burgers are much better for your money and taste. If you're a "Burger-Luster" as myself and you having tried Sam's Deli, please go out and try it. Even if it doesn't meet your standards it'll be okay. And come on I know you had worst.
