    City Diner-Grand Center

We went to City Diner after a show at the Fox Theater tonight. i went ahead of our group to get seats since there were 13 of us. I stood near the hostess desk for a few minutes and the two young ladies working walked past me several times without acknowledging that I was there. After a few minutes of standing there one of them looked at me and said "be with you in a minute". When she came back a minute or two later, she said how many and I said 13, she gave me a look like "are you kidding me"? She walked away and came back, pointed around a divider wall and said "there are 3 booths over there you can divide yourself up". Four people in our party went over and took one of the booths and I walked back to the Fox to get everyone else. When we walked in and started to walk over to the booths and the other waitress looks at me and snaps at me , "you need to wait before you sit down." I was taken back by what she said and I replied that I was told by the other waitress to sit in the three booths. Then she said something that I was shocked by, she said "you don't have to be rude". I said to her, "I'm your customer, you are being disrespectful to me." She repeated, "I saw you roll your eyes at me, you don't have to be rude". Then she started getting on to the waitress who told me to sit in the booths right in front of me about how she was getting off work and now there would only be one of them. I asked her if she would rather our party of 13 not stay and she again said that I was being rude. I asked her if I could talk to the manager and she looks right at me and says, "I'm the manager." After that remark I went over to my daughter and son in law and other daughter and her boyfriend who were already sitting in one of the booths to tell them we were leaving. I have never had a more upsetting experience in restaurant. This restaurant is located in the same building as The Fox Theater and is open late, I'm assuming to accommodate the after show crowd. Why would they be cutting staff at a time when it would obviously be getting more crowded? I wonder if the ownership is aware of how their staff treats customers. I would think twice before heading to the City Diner as there are definitely several other choices in the immediate area.
